Covenant Renewal

Happy New Year! I hope your year is off to a great start. Each new year comes with promises and expectations; especially around goals. We make goals for ourselves to improve in various areas, or to lose weight, or to save more money. Sometimes, those goals include wanting to be more attuned to our faith through regular devotional times, scripture reading, prayer, and the like. It’s a natural time to make such goals and I have a couple of those myself!

Undergirding all we do is our faith. The Holy Spirit empowers us, with Jesus Christ as our firm foundation. That’s why it makes sense that we, as a church, embark on this new year with the Covenant Renewal Service. This service is a chance to commit afresh and anew to our relationship with God; to get the year started off right. It’s a wonderful time of worship and I look forward to it each year. During our service, we will walk through the liturgy together, making our commitment. Then, as a sign of our reaffirmation of faith, we will have the opportunity to be anointed with water from the font as we remember our baptisms and to receive a wallet-sized card of the Covenant Prayer, a reminder in our bibles or wallets of the commitment we made this day.

I hope you’ll make plans to be in worship on Sunday, January 8, at 11:00 a.m. for this special time of worship!

Lay Leadership Commissioning
During worship on January 22, we will commission our lay leadership for 2023. This will be an act of worship during our 11:00 a.m. service, similar to the church membership liturgy. This special act is a time for our new and returning leaders to commit to their roles before the church as well as for the church to commit to support and prayer for our leadership. If you are a member of a committee or board as a part of Mulberry, please be sure to be present on January 22.
