One of the many things that drew me to Mulberry was our mission statement: “Sharing the heart of God from the heart of downtown Macon.” I remember reading it on our website when I first researched the church and remarking to myself how beautiful it was. If you’ve been to church anytime since June of this year, you’ve probably heard Ted or myself mention this statement at the beginning of our worship service, and if you’ve read our newsletter this Fall, you’ll notice that our weekly updates are organized around this mission statement. It is central to our staff’s decision making process, and we are intentional about developing experiences that help us live out our calling to invite others to experience the transforming love of Christ.
This Sunday, we are excited to provide our first “Second Sunday Serve” as a way to do just that! Like our usual Second Sunday Lunch, we will eat together in the fellowship hall following the 11 o’clock worship service. Instead of our usual potluck, we will provide a catered lunch of Publix sub sandwiches and wraps ($5 per person), and after we eat together, we will divide up into teams to head to service projects around the church and throughout Macon. If you want to stay around the church, we will have projects at both the Community Garden and Paula’s Closet. And for those who want to get out and spread some Christmas cheer, you will also have the option of caroling at one of our local nursing homes with teams led by some of our amazing choir members! We hope you’ll join us for this awesome day of serving our community!
